You can never learn too much. Whatever you learn now, will come in handy later!
Why Sobeys?
I wanted a career, not just a job. Sobeys looked like a company where I could gain valuable experience and begin to work my way up in the business.
My Food Confession
I love fruit! Berries, apples, peaches......you name it, I love it!
Order Selector
Everyone has to start somewhere right? So there I was, starting as selecting orders, or "picking" as we call it. Grocery shopping for the grocery store! I would challenge myself to build the best possible pallets for shipping to try and help out those who receive our products in the store.
Fork Operator
The next step but just as important. This job is important to the overall success of the distribution centre. I would put pallets away and make sure products were ready for my colleagues who were preparing orders for the stores.
Receiver
This is where I really started to branch out. As receiver I was ensuring that we received the correct products and amounts from our suppliers. If we didn't have the right orders, it would ultimately affect what we could deliver to our stores.
Inventory Control Clerk
I love to challenge myself to be better and working Inventory Control did just that! Arranging the warehouse so it was as efficient as possible and maintaining accurage counts were just some of the important tasks we had as Inventory Control Clerk.
Shift Supervisor
This would be my first crack at managing others, a whole new set of challenges. But, my experiences so far would prove to be a big help. Accurate loading, making sure deliveries were on time, dispatching drivers, I enjoyed it all.
Inbound Manager
Today, I am the Inbound Manager for the Calgary Retail Support Centre. I am responsible for running a full crew including shift supervisors and Inventory Control Clerks, receivers and fork operators, all my old positions!
My Advice
Live each day to the fullest and enjoy it!
