The Sobeys & Empire scholarship program exemplifies our commitment to nurturing promising talent while investing in the future of our company. Each year, we proudly extend 70 scholarships, valued at $1,500 each, to deserving student teammates across Canada.

The Sobeys & Empire scholarship program exemplifies our commitment to nurturing promising talent while investing in the future of our company. Each year, we proudly extend 70 scholarships, valued at $1,500 each, to deserving student teammates across Canada.

Program Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must be full-time students enrolled in a Canadian college or university or completing their high school education and enrolled to start their post secondary education in the fall.  Additionally, applicants must have dedicated a minimum of six months to working with Sobeys or its affiliates at the time of application and continue their employment throughout the scholarship process. Academic excellence is also a priority, with a minimum grade average of 70% required in the most recent semester.

    Raquel's Story

    Raquel started with us as a student, working in product, grocery and cash before being selected as a management trainee. From there, she made a difference as assistant manager and on key strategic projects. We're excited to now have Raquel as a Safeway Store Manager in Alberta.

Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Program

Guided by experienced leaders, this program offers exposure to business areas such as Marketing, Operations and Merchandising.  Based in Stellarton, Nova Scotia, our CPA Program that takes applications each year in September, is designed to help accounting graduates work toward a CPA designation.  At the conclusion of this three-year journey, you will have the opportunity to further your career by joining one of our teams across Canada.

We’re looking for teammates with a passion for grocery retail and financial management who are ready to commit to a career with Sobeys.

    Patricia’s Story

    Patricia started her career in the CPA Program in Nova Scotia working in job rotations across the business.  She switched to real estate analysis when she moved to Ontario and now works with our eCommerce business team Voilà, supporting Sobeys’ launch into the online grocery business.  Explore your many interests at Sobeys.
